Western Coalfields Limited supports women's economic empowerment in Nagpur through Saudamini project Empowering Women Through Sustainable Livelihoods: WCL continues support to Aroha Society for its flagship Project Saudamini Guided by the visionary leadership of Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, WCL, Project Saudamini advances women’s economic empowerment through sustainable livelihood opportunities. Implemented in partnership with Aroha Multipurpose Society and Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Urban Livelihood Mission, the project supports the Saudamini–Sonchiraaiya Stitching Cluster at the City Livelihood Centre, Somalwada, Nagpur. The MoU was signed in the gracious presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Human Resources), WCL, by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL; Smt Visakha Rao Jathar, President, Aroha Multipurpose Society; and Smt Sharmistha Gandhi, CEO, Aroha Multipurpose Society. The initiative will provide advanced stitching and production training to 35 new beneficiaries, strengthen the training-cum-production centre, and offer entrepreneurship, leadership, market-linkage and financial-access support. The project aims to build a cluster of 100 women artisans, enabling sustainable microenterprises, self-employment and greater economic independence for marginalised urban women in Nagpur and their families. Western Coalfields Limited partners with BAIF for sustainable development in Nagpur district Empowering Rural Communities: WCL Partners with BAIF for Sustainable Development in Nagpur District Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the BAIF Development Research Foundation. This partnership marks the launch of Community Livelihood Enhancement and Sustainable Rural Development Programme with a goal to secure climate-resilient livelihoods, improve food and nutrition security in Nagpur District under our CSR initiatives. Guided by the visionary leadership of Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, WCL, the agreement was signed in the gracious presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Human Resources), WCL. The MoU was officially inked by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL, and Shri Shailesh Bhagat, Chief Programme Manager, BAIF Vidharbha. The initiative aims to increase the annual income of 1,000 small and marginal farmers, ultimately benefiting 4,800 unique families in 20 villages of Umred and Bhivapur Blocks of Nagpur District. The project delivers a robust package of interventions, including climate-smart agriculture, natural-resource management, livestock development, clean energy adoption, and women's empowerment. Eradicating Childhood Disability: WCL Partners with CURE India for Clubfoot Rehabilitation Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CURE International India Trust to launch the "Elimination of Disability from Clubfoot in Children in Association with Government Healthcare System" initiative under our CSR program The project targets the identification and complete rehabilitation of 100 children born with clubfoot in Nagpur District, Maharashtra. The initiative will provide care utilizing the globally recognized, non-surgical Ponseti Method by providing early clinical interventions—including manipulation, casting, and minor procedures—along with high-quality Foot Abduction Braces (FABs) distributed completely free of cost to prevent physical relapses Guided by visionary leadership of Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, CMD, WCL, this initiative reaffirms WCL’s commitment to inclusive healthcare access. MoU Signing Ceremony between WCL and FDDI Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) and the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) signed an MoU on 18 August 2026 at WCL HQ, Nagpur, marking an important step towards strengthening skill development, livelihood enhancement and employment opportunities for youth from WCL’s operational areas. The MoU was signed in the gracious presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance/DHR), WCL, and Shri Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, FDDI,, along with Shri Aritra Das, Centre Head, FDDI, Chhindwara; and Shri Sushant Yadav, Programme Coordinator, along with Shri. Lalit Tirkey GM(CSR), senior officials of WCL. The MoU was signed by Shri Manoj Kumar Gupta, GM (E&M/HRD), WCL, on behalf of WCL, and Shri Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, FDDI, on behalf of FDDI. .Under the MoU, 150 candidates will be provided industry-oriented vocational skill training in: Retail & Fashion Merchandise – 50 candidates Footwear Design & Production – 50 candidates Leather Goods & Accessories – 50 candidates The initiative aims to equip Project Affected Persons (PAP) families and unemployed youth in command Areas of WCL with practical, market-oriented skills, enabling them to pursue gainful employment, self-employment and sustainable livelihood opportunities. MoU Signing Ceremony between WCL and Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC) Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) and the Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC) signed an MoU on 18 August 2026 at WCL HQ, Nagpur, marking another significant step towards skill development, livelihood enhancement, self-employment and employment opportunities for Project Affected Persons (PAPs) and unemployed youth, particularly women, from WCL’s operational areas. The MoU was signed in the gracious presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance/DHR), WCL, and Mrs. Roopali Shukla, Director (CSR), ATDC, New Delhi, along with GM(CSR), senior officials of WCL. The MoU was signed by Shri Manoj Kumar Gupta, GM (E&M/HRD), WCL, on behalf of WCL, and Mrs. Roopali Shukla, Director (CSR), ATDC on behalf of ATDC. Under the MoU, 210 candidates will receive vocational skill training through two industry-oriented programmes: Self Employed Tailor (SET) – 180 candidates * 90 candidates at ATDC, Chhindwara Centre * 90 candidates at ATDC, Nagpur Centre * 4-month short-term, non-residential programme Apparel Manufacturing Technology (AMT) – 30 candidates * One-year residential programme * ATDC, Chhindwara Centre The SET programme will promote self-employment and entrepreneurship in command Areas of WCL by enabling candidates to establish their own tailoring activities and generate sustainable income. The AMT programme will provide comprehensive technical and industry-oriented training, enhancing employment opportunities in the apparel manufacturing sector. This initiative reflects WCL’s commitment to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and inclusive socio-economic development for communities associated with its mining operations. WCL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lok Kalyan Diagnostics, Nagpur for implementation of Project SUSHRUTA. The project aims to screen 25,000 individuals for the prevention of genetic disorders, with a special focus on thalassemia and sickle cell disease. The MoU was signed in presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Human Resources), WCL by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey,General Manager (CSR), WCL, and Shri Vinay Ambulkar, Project Coordinator, Lok Samasya Sanshodhan & Lok Kalyan Samiti, Nagpur. The project aims to facilitate early detection of genetic disorders through large-scale screening, enabling timely counselling, diagnosis, and appropriate medical intervention. By promoting early identification of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell disease, the initiative seeks to reduce the incidence of inherited blood disorders and improve long-term health outcomes for vulnerable communities. Speaking on the occasion,Shri Bikram Ghosh said that Project SUSHRUTA would make a significant contribution towards strengthening community health through early detection and awareness of genetic disorders. WCL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Anant Samiti, Bhopal, on 31 July 2026 to launch a Moringa-Based Nutritional Supplementation Programme for 2,000 Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) and Moderately Acute Malnourished (MAM) children across Anganwadi centres in Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh. The MoU was signed in presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & Human Resources), WCL by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL and Shri Sachin Sharma, Secretary, Anant Samiti, Bhopal. The initiative will provide Moringa (Moringa oleifera)-based nutritional supplements to identified children while promoting nutrition awareness among parents and communities. It also includes regular monitoring of children's health and growth, along with close coordination with the Anganwadi and public health systems to strengthen malnutrition prevention. WCL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sankalp India Foundation (SIF) on 31 July 2026 to implement an Antenatal Screening Programme for Haemoglobinopathies across government hospitals in Nagpur, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Gadchiroli, Chhindwara and Betul districts. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Human Resources), WCL, by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL, and Shri Rajat Kumar Agarwal, President, Sankalp India Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Bikram Ghosh said that the initiative aims to strengthen maternal and child healthcare through early screening for Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease among pregnant women and their partners, supported by genetic counselling and referral for confirmatory testing wherever required. This proactive approach will help prevent severe genetic blood disorders in newborns through timely diagnosis and intervention. WCL has taken another significant step towards strengthening maternal nutrition in tribal and remote areas through its CSR initiative. On 31 July 2026, WCL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zilla Parishad, Gadchiroli, to implement Project Poshit – An Anganwadi-Based Maternal Nutrition Support Programme. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & Human Resources), WCL, by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL, and Shri Suhas Gade, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Gadchiroli.The project will provide daily hot, balanced, and nutritious meals to 2,555 pregnant and lactating women through 397 Anganwadi Centres across Armori, Chamorshi, Desaiganj, Gadchiroli, and Mulchera blocks. Implemented in collaboration with the Women & Child Development Department, the initiative aims to improve maternal nutrition, prevent anaemia and malnutrition, and promote healthier mothers and children.
